Where did my spring break go?
Mar. 16th, 2008 08:31 pmSpring break was good. Got fewer things done than I wanted, but then, part of the reason I had such huge plans was that I knew not all of them would get done. It is inevitable. I was also slowed because you know, if the art is not cooperating, it doesn't work. And it was not cooperating. I was mildly panicking the other day-- it was Friday, and I completely thought it was Thursday, so I lost a day in there, but... on reflection? I think I'm actually pretty solid.
In general, it was a productive week. I got nearly all of the graphics for Hungry Samurai done (it's going to be less impressive than originally planned, because I don't feel like finishing the rest, but whatever) and I'll probably just make up the rest of the writing when I put things together in class on Tuesday. It's a silly tale and the teacher's expectations are low; I'm not going to put too much effort into it.
I have the plan for my screenprint done, and the stencils made; I'll probably print them Wednesday and Thursday, and then it's just assembling and some painting for the background. So that will be simple. (Also, I finally found a use for all that beach glass I've been collecting. Huzzah!) It will be much more of a collage/mixed-media piece, but that will make it easier. I don't know why I haven't been doing that before.
For watercolor, I got most of the mixed media piece done today (and it looks fantastic); I'll finish that up tomorrow, since we don't have class, then do the second piece in class this week and next. I don't know what I'll do for that piece yet; something simple, probably.
That just leaves the animation. I got that storyboarded this morning, and I'll work on doing the drawings this week. I should be able to put them together and add the soundtrack next Tuesday, (still need to find the soundtrack, but I have much music and Abbie has even more, so that shouldn't be a problem) and then that will be done.
Which... is... everything, actually. Huh. I really was more productive than I thought; I should be able to get everything done mostly in class, with maybe a bit of work outside it this week. Sweet. That leaves this weekend for packing and buying various necessary things. Yes! Less stress than I was anticipating. More time for video games and the boy. This is good. Good good.
