Dammit! Probably one of the few visits he'll make to Indianapolis before the end of the campaign, and I can't go. Normally I'd skip class, but Wednesday is our watercolor critique, and I can't skive off critique. Especially when I get to show off my epic painting.

Sad times.

Priceless.

So, Obama took more states but fewer delegates than Hillary. This is okay. The fact that he's clearly winning over a lot of people who either wouldn't normally vote, or who would lean more Republican (see: 80% of Idaho), is what, I think, will eventually get him the nomination. (Besides the fact that he's made of awesome, naturally.) Hillary's teary eyes can only get her so far. It seems she knows this, too: despite her lead in numbers of delegates, she spent five million of her own money on her campaign today to 'keep up with Obama.' Very interesting.

It's been a fairly quiet week, otherwise. I finished up my three-color watercolor on Monday, and started the six-color one today. The subject matter: a stuffed penguin with a scarf and steampunk goggles leading an army of paper cranes. It's the most ridiculous thing ever and it's awesome.

Here's the most recent piece:

I finished the first screenprinting project as well. We had critique today, which went... about as expected. Somehow we managed to spend over an hour critiquing seven pieces. There were actually a few nice ones this time around, but as usual there was still someone who was rather clueless-- I wanted to smack the girl who tried to read environmentalist themes into my piece (after I had explained that I was basically just experimenting with imagery, and I really only did that because it was the assignment. In general, I hate abstraction and symbolism and all the bullshit it brings with it.) No pictures yet; it's too large to scan and it's been rainy all weekend, so I can't take it outside, but hopefully we'll get some sun soon and I can put it up then.

My class for tomorrow is more or less canceled, since the teacher is going to be gone, so I get to sleep in (huzzah) and then work on my video at home, and on the comfort of my PC, rather than the stupid macs in the school lab. The video is due Tuesday, which is a little intimidating, but considering it only took me maybe an hour to do the last one, I'm sure this one won't be too bad, even if it is going to be much more complex.

And now, to putter about the internet.

I've been paying much more attention to the news lately, mainly because I've been following the primaries, and found a link to The Independant a few days back, which I really enjoy. It's a UK paper, but their articles are really good, and cover far more interesting things than any of the US papers I see.

Today they posted a really awesome article, which everyone, I think, should read:
Barack Obama: My America

It's long, but totally worth it. And here's to an Obama victory tomorrow, neh?
